Given the urgent need to accommodate homeless mothers and children in Porto Alegre, our team took the initiative to acquire 400 pallets. These pallets were essential for assembling 200 beds, providing a safe and comfortable place for these vulnerable families. However, our commitment to the well-being of those affected did not stop there.
Building on this initial donation, we conducted a detailed assessment of the shelter’s other needs. We identified the urgent need to equip the kitchen to ensure meals could be prepared properly and hygienically. To achieve this goal, we acquired a variety of essential kitchen materials and equipment, including stoves, refrigerators, kitchen utensils, pots, cutlery, and plates. This effort aimed to ensure that families could have access to nutritious meals prepared in safe conditions.
In addition to the accommodation and kitchen facilities, we also focused on the personal hygiene of the shelter residents. With the support of friends and partners, we managed to collect significant donations. Among the items donated were:
- 100 liters of shampoo: Ensuring that mothers could maintain hair hygiene amidst difficult circumstances.
- 100 liters of conditioner: Complementing hair care and promoting well-being.
- 100 liters of children’s shampoo: Specifically for the little ones, with formulas suitable for the delicacy of children’s hair.
- 200 dental hygiene kits: Generously donated by the University of Passo Fundo, containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss. These kits are essential for maintaining the oral health of all sheltered families.
The collaboration and generosity of everyone involved were crucial in comprehensively meeting the needs of the shelter. Each donated item represents a significant step in improving the living conditions of the mothers and children residing there, providing them with dignity and comfort during such a challenging time.
